The purpose of the book is to give, with appropriate illustrations, an aesthetic of the art of sculpture. This branch of the arts has always had some measure of difficulty in establishing its individual identity due to the lack of any clear formulation of the requisite autonomous laws. Many artists of renown have developed skills as a sculptor in addition to their main field of endeavour and vice versa. It is important that the independence of each of the arts in modern civilisation should be maintained however common it may be for them to combine in some works of art. These lectures deal with these matters in some detail.* A NEAR VG text copy of the 1st/1st thus. with some age and wear but no dust jacket.*
