Pocasset, MA: Self-published, 2003. Hardcover. New, minor staining of unknown origin inside front cover of volume 3 which is otherwise VG+. Red cloth with gilt embossed title and design. Volume 1: ix, (1), 276 pp., profusely illustrated in bw and color. Volume 2: ix, (1), 282 pp., includes color and bw plates. Volume 3: ix, 269 pp. 80 color, many bw plates. These two books comprise most of the known knowledge and data on this artist. The Preface to Volume 2 makes reference to a third volume being in the works (Volume 2 was published in 2004, a year after Volume 1). Volume 3 was published in 2007. John Prentiss Benson (also John P. Benson) (1865-1947) was an American architect and artist noted for his maritime paintings.
