About This Item
Washington, D. C.: GPO, 1969. Paperback. xxviii, 580p., coated decorated wraps. There's a touch of rubbing to cover, but essentially a very good, unhandled copy. Vol 8 of A report to the National commission on the causes and prevention of violence. A potpourri of academic notions about political killings, not in the least restricted to the assassination of presidents, or of social reformers like King, but segueing into Klan murders, and wandering rather far afield, see especially appendix E : "situation 1. ever seen another person slapped or kicked / situation 2. ever seen another person punched or beaten" &c &c. Find brief considerations of "assassinations in China; assassinations in Japan; assassinations in Canada.." We believe this is an installment in the same series whose high point of frisson was articulated by Louis Jolyon West; "Jolly" West made a case for converting an abandoned Nike missile base into a fenced-off sort of concentration camp / hospital to "treat" the violence-prone (media reported this plan, public repugnance killed it).
