London: Day & Son, Lithographers To the Queen c. 1865. On title page: " Dedicated by Special Permission to His Royal Highness Albert Edward Prince of Wales." The laying of the first Atlantic cable. Original green cloth on boards with gilt titles; gilt illuminated decoratives; rear cover with blindstampted images as the front,minus the gilt. Lithograph title. Cover: light dusting of age soiling and mild rubbings. Tiny rubbing to boards fore corners. Edges: gilt with light touches of rubbings; when fanned there is few only foxings. Eps: light old foxings, title page light foxing to whitespace margins. 24 tinted plates, with only a couple with small touches of old foxing/ soiling to few of the plates, albeit mostly to the margins. Binding is As New. 117p. Hb. VG/None. Illus. by Robert Dudley.
