About This Item

The Atlantic is an American magazine that features articles in the fields of politics, foreign affairs, business and the economy, culture and the arts, technology, and science. This copy of The Atlantic, Vol. 185, No. 4 was published by The Atlantic Monthly Company in April 1950. The magazine, which measures approximately 8 x 11 inches, contains 96 pages of text, illustrations and advertisements aimed at the more sophisticated readers of general-interest magazines. This paper-bound issue does not have any detached or semi-detached pages – a soundly bound copy! The signs of wear appear in minor chipping along the spine and dog-eared pages in the lower outer corner. The overall condition of the magazine is very good.

The front cover shows a portrait of Edith Sitwell by Catherine Barnes, as well as the names of the two featured articles in the issue, that are Breakup of the Two-Power World, by Walter Lippmann and Macbeth, by Edith Sitwell. These featured articles are supplemented by seveteen additional articles on various subjects authored by such writers as James B. Reston, Al Capp, Oliver St. John Gogarty, Louis Bromfield, Edwin O'Conner, and Virginia Woolf.

The illustrations accompanying this description show the magazine's cover, the Title/table of Contents page, and the first pages of three articles in the issue.

About Pages For Sages

Pages For Sages has been in the business of buying and selling rare and used books, ephemera, and other unusual items for over forty years. We have long depended on book fairs, printed catalogs, auctions, and the like to support the business. Now, in our later years (ages 90 and 92) we are taking this step to display a catalog of inventory on the Biblio web site for your consideration. The number of our listings will grow as we continue the process of adding items from our inventory - please come back from time to time to find additional offerings.
