(1st edition, 1st printing) Very large oblong softcover, a color photograph of globe, inkwell and quill pen and copies of maps on front, dark red spine and back wrapper with three color maps, 210 pages, pages 67-70 are loose from spine but in place without damage. Introduction by Lester De Ray. Maps of fantastical literature including Eden, Gulliver's journeys, Sherlock Holmes, Treasure Island, Oz and surrounding lands, the works of Edgard Rice Burroughs and H.P. Lovecraft, Lemuria and more. Very slight wear at spine top left edge, light wear to spine bottom edge. Near Very Fine.
Synopsis
An Atlas of Fantasy, compiled by Jeremiah Benjamin Post, was originally published in 1973 by Mirage Press and revised for a 1979 edition by Ballantine Books. The 1979 edition dropped twelve maps from the first edition and added fourteen new ones. It also included an introduction by Lester del Rey.
