Jap Suicides Becoming Popular," Six issues in pressman-set newsletter format, staple-bound, 10-12 pages per issue, being the house organ (ship organ?) of the soldiers aboard and operations of the U.S.S. Auburn. Edited by G.E. Dick, and with contributions by P.B. Pasquae, Art Editor; J. Raphael, Assistant Editor; J.A. Faiilla, Collator; J.W. Stephen, Assistant Editor; J.J. Dolezal, Pressman; T.R. Hamrick, Pressman; and R.E. Boyson, Pressman. Printed from the bowels of the U.S.S. Auburn during the Second World War. Moderately toned, lightly chipped along edges, but not much soiled. U.S.S. Auburn (AGC-10) was "a Mount McKinley-class amphibious force command ship, named for the hill Mount Auburn just northwest of Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was designed as an amphibious force flagship, a floating command post with advanced communications equipment and extensive combat information spaces to be used by the amphibious forces commander and landing force commander during large-scale operations" (Wikipedia). She steamed from Maui to Okinawa to Iwo Jima and thence back again to Pearl Harbor, barely missing the Japanese surrender a few weeks later. Each issue is complete with masthead, news and notes, battle reports, black-and-white illustrations, diplomatic maneuvres, world news, telegrams, and even baseball scores and standings! Perhaps in anticipation of Japan's surrender, several articles note currency exchange rates and entertainment options.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
