About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. The Scots poem popularly known as the Auld Lang Syne was set to the tune of a traditional folk song. It is very eminent in several countries, especially in the countries with people who mainly speaks English. The melodic poem is used to bid goodbye to the past year to welcome the new year by midnight. In addition, it is also chanted at funerals, graduations, and as an adieu or finale to other celebrations. In several other countries, the international Scouting movement sings the Auld Land Syne to end jamborees and other events. The song may be translated into classical English as ?old long since?, or ?long long ago?, ?days gone by? or ?old times?.

Auld Lang Syne is a musical poem written by Robert Burns or better known as Rabbie Burns, the Bard of Ayrshire, Ploughman Poet and other different names and epithets. He was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He is largely known as the national poet of Scotland and is acclaimed all throughout the globe. He usually wrote in the Scots language, but most of his works are also in English and a simple Scots language, open to the devotees apart from Scotland. His works were written in classic English and his political or civil criticism was usually not that sharp.

He was remarked as one of the first few to introduce the Romantic movement, also called as Romanticism, the Romantic era or the Romantic period, a creative, literary, lyrical, and logical movement that begun in Europe in the late 18th century. It was defined by its intensity on emotion and identity also with the deification of all the old times and nature, to go for the medieval rather than the classical. he was an influence to the framers of both liberalism and socialism, and an adorning figure in Scotland and among the Scottish diaspora in the entire world.
