Georgian House, Melbourne, 1945. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Marjorie Rankin. 108 pp., last three blank, acknowledgements, coloured plates. Coloured frontispiece, by Marjorie Rankin, showing all animals described within book. In the book there are nine full-page coloured illustrations along with numerous black and white marginal illustrations and decorative capitals. Illustrated boards, showing a possum, dark blue background with white and blue writing on front panel. The corners are rubbed and there is edge wear to the boards. There is a discolouration of the back panel, closest to the spine, measuring 0.5", running the full length of the book. Illustrated dustwrapper, the same as for illustrated boards, which is rubbed and faded. There is chipping to the top dustwrapper edge and dustwrapper corners, most noticeable on the back panel, and on bottom dustwrapper edge and front panel. The spine has been affected by insect activity, with the top 1/2 being the worst affected. The top half has total loss of lettering and in some parts in dustwrapper is completely gone. The bottom half of the spine there is a blurring of the lettering. This is a children's book which describes Australian marsupials in a novel form. Size: Oblong 8vo - 7¾" - 9¾" tall but wider.
