About This Item

Paris, 1896. From the 'Autour du Monde" series, illustrated with softly-toned colour photographic plates from Australia, New Guinea and Samoa, paginated 321 - 328.

Portrait of man with his boomerang, young woman posing with her husband's weapons, beautiful portrait of an Australian woman carrying her infant child in a woven sling; from New Guinea, we see village life, a landscape of trees, a group of men in canoes with their fishing equipment, and a painted ceremonial dance of young men on the beach; there is one photograph from Samoa, a fine young boy dressed in regalia with his sword.

Printed by Noizette et Cie (8, Rue Campagne-1re, Paris). Oblong octavo, 9 unbound leaves, 8 full page colour plates, title page age-toned, all plates near fine.
