A Modern Library edition offering one of the world's most famous autobiographies, which explores the rich diversity that was the life of Benjamin Franklin. Also included are other Franklin writings, such as selections from his "Poor Richard's Almanack." With an introduction by Henry Steele Commager. --- In Toledano spine 8 / blue cloth / gilt titling on red spine & cover blocks / red topstain / grey Kent endpapers / jacket style h, verso lists 322 titles in ML catalog. Likely published c.1947 (though 1944 date appears in book). ML #39.2. --- A very nice copy: clean and tightly-bound but with a little age-toning to leaves; some loss to cover gilding. Fair-only, unclipped dust jacket with quite noticeable rubbing and tears, creases & chafing to edges; wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; 12mo 7" - 7-1/2" tall; xix, 264 pages .
