Written on half of the verso of a printed invitation on the letterhead of the Newsvendors' Benevolent & Provident Institution, addressed to George Cruikshank, Esq., 1 Dec. 1874, requesting permission for his name to appear as honorary steward at the upcoming annual dinner, with a ms note at the corner (evidently not in Cruikshank's hand: "Accepted." Another evident draft is written on the other half of the verso.
