About This Item
The younger brother of Johann Jr. "The Waltz King" Strauss and Josef Strauss, with whom he formed the renowned Strauss Orchestra that dominated Vienna's light music scene for decades, and child of Johann Strauss Sr. ("The Father of the Waltz") was himself a noted conductor and respected composer. AMuQS, 1p, 3½" X 2½", n.p., n.y. [1901]. Very good. Faintly age toned; barely visible mounting trace at corners. Strauss was apparently asked for a snippet from an original composition, for at the center of this heavy card he has affixed a 2¼" X 1" slip bearing three small, neatly penned measures from an unidentified composition -- likely a waltz, as it notes 3/4 time. Below this slip, Strauss signs large and bold. An unusual, most attractive item.
