A complete run of the popular pulp magazine 'The Avenger', including four issues of 'Clues Detective', with all of the original colour wraps bound in. A complete run of 'The Avenger' across five volumes, including four of the five Avenger stories featured in 'Clues Detective' from 1942 to 1943.The first edition of these issues. 28 issues overall each with the wraps bound in. Each original colourfully illustrated front wraps are bound in, a couple are a little closely cropped to the gutter.'The Avenger' was a popular but short-lived pulp magazine, featuring the fictional character the 'Avenger'. Avenger was a pulp hero written by Kenneth Robeson, the pseudonym house name used by the publisher, though most of the stories were written by Paul Ernst. Most of each issue was taken up by book-length novels of 'The Avenger', featuring a few other short stories and features by various authors such as Gary Barton, Ed Bodin, and H. M. Walsh.Volume I contains; September 1939 'Justice Inc', October 1939 'The Yellow Hoard', November 1939 'The Sky Walker', December 1939 'The Devil's Horns', January 1940 'The Frosted Death', and February 1940 'The Glass Mountain'.Volume II contains; March 1940 'The Blood Ring', April 1940 'Stockholders in Death', May 1940 'Tuned For Murder', June 1940 'The Smiling Dogs', July 1940 'The River of Ice', and September 1940 'The Flame-Breathers'.Volume III contains; November 1940 'Murder on Wheels', January 1941 'The Three Gold Crowns, March 1941 'House of Death', May 1941 'The Hate Master', July 1941 'Nevlo', and September 1941 'Death in Slow Motion'.Volume IV contains; November 1941 'Pictures of Death', January 1942 'The Green Killer', March 1942 'The Happy Killers', May 1942 'The Black Death', July 1942 'The Wilder Curse', and September 1942 'Midnight Murder'.Volume V contains; September 1942 'Death to the Avenger', November 1942 'Coffin For the Avenger', January 1943 'Vengeance on the Avenger', and March 1943 'Calling Justice Inc'. Rebound in a cloth binding, with the original front wraps bound in. Externally, smart. A little bumping to the spines. A few light marks to the boards. Front hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Rear hinge of Volumes II and III are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned and clean. A couple of wraps are a little closely cropped to the gutter. Very Good Indeed
