Binding of decorative paper, on title page with ink: owner's entry J.C. Nijborg. several wooden pencil remarks in the text. p. 14-15 restored in the middle with white tape. Several slashes/stripes in the text with ink. 2 page dedication to Monsieur van den Hull, Haarlem, en Hollande: 'Jái toujours dit, et je dirai toujour, que s'il y a une école au monde, où l'on peut être hereux, et où le maître fait tout de son mieux pour bien enseinier ses disciples, ainsi que pour leur plaire en tout, cést chez Monsieur Van den Hull. J'ai tout lieu de le dire, car les deux années qui ont été les plus heureuses de ma vie, je les ai passées à son école"". Willem van den Hull, born in 1778 in Haarlem, is one of the first autobiographers writing about his youth and his later job as a teacher and boarding school owner of a renowned French school.
