New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1928. Limited Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8x6x1. Signed by author. Limited edition, #467 of 500 copies. Signed by author and hand-numbered. Lacks slipcase, but includes a second jacket that appears original and follows the same design pattern as the one beneath, with a different color scheme and thicker paper. Silver jacket beneath is affixed by the flaps to the insides of the boards, and is split down the spine with some chipping. Book and outer jacket are excellent. 1928 Hard Cover. 314 pp. Silver cloth spine over boards, silver jacket with red titles and rules under grey jacket with black titles and rules, elaborately decorated endpapers. Louis Bromfield attained worldwide acclaim in the 1920s as the author of Early Autumn, his third novel and winner of the 1926 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. At age 29, Bromfield was regarded as one of America's most promising young novelists, compared to the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. His novels were among the first adapted for feature-length sound films. This is his eighth book.
