About This Item
New York, New York, U.S.A.: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1966. First English Language Edition . Hardcover. VG+/Good. For older children/YA readers. Based on an ancient myth, "The Hawaiian Story of Pakaa and Kuapakaa, the Personal Attendants of Keawenuiaumi." translated from the Hawaiian by D. M. Kahananui. This is the FIRST EDITION, first printing in English from 1966 (NOT the 1980's reprint!) as rendered by librarian & children's book author/illustrator Ms. Brown. Hardcover in 180 pages, complemented throughout with 57 linoleum block illustrations by the author. Condition is VG+ (Very Good Plus): exceptionally clean, pages white, NO writing, underlining, or highlighting; NOT ex-lib. Flaws: slightly bumped corners, very mild rubbing to extremities, light shelf dust. Price-clipped DJ is downgraded to only Good due to 1) large chip @ head of spine, 2) lesser chips & short tears all around. Nicely protected in new nonreflective mylar cover. Photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have on hand.
