Phillips Publications, 1979, 1979. 1st ed. 197p. Photos. Maps. Jacket priced. In mylar. SIGNED & inscribed to Gen. Mike Michaelis, "classmate and friend, outstanding soldier and gentleman". . In World War II, Michaelis was executive officer of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, but took command of the unit after the commanding officer, George Van Horn Moseley Jr., broke his leg in the drop into Normandy. Later, Michaelis was severely wounded in the Netherlands.[4] He served as chief of staff of the 101st Airborne Division during the Battle of Bastogne and ended the war as a colonel. Regimental commander in Korea 1950 etc. Michaelis was awarded the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts.Fine/Fine Copy. Signed by Author. 1st. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine.
