Paris: Eug. Rey, 1906. Limited edition guide book to New York, with text and illustrations by Charles Huard. Attractive engraved frontispiece of a lady overlooking New York. The edition was published in a total of 600 numbered copies. 100 on Japon and 500 on velin d'Arches. This is one of the Velin copies. Originally published in pale blue wrappers, which have been retained here. Half vellum binding, with brown label and gilt titles. Marbled boards. Owner's bookplate to the inside front board. The binding is in good repair, with a little marking only. Original wrappers are in good state, with a touch of marking to the original cover only. Xii. 202, [iv]. pp 200 x 150 mm (7¾ x 6 inches). Paris: Calmann-Levy, 1907. First edition. Bound in burgundy half leather, with gilt titles and 6 raised bands. marbled boards. Marbled end papers. The original wrappers are bound in to the front and rear. The leather has a little rubbing to it, with very slight cracking to the front hinge. A little foxing to the end papers. The original covers are beautiful clean examples. The rest of the book is clean and tidy. Engraved frontis of Benjamin Constant aged six years. This copy is on Hollande paper. 130 pages. Benjamin Constant, was a Swiss-French political activist and writer on political theory and religion. First posthumous edition of this autoboiography. Benjamin Constant talks about his studies at the University of Edinburgh, where he met the British philosopher and politician James Mackintosh, as well as the Scottish historian Malcolm Laing. Paris: H. Floury, 1908. First edition. One of a thousand copies (not numbered) on Velin paper. Grey boards with minimalist titles to the spine and front board. There is a little rubbing to the edge of the spine. Front board is a little bowed. Contains 2 portraits, 11 plates by Beardsley and 2 cul de lampe. Internally a very nice clean copy. 129 pages. Plates have glassine guards. The spine is darker than the boards and has possibly been neatly re-laid. 260m x 20cm. Première édition. Un des mille exemplaires (non numérotés) sur papier Velin. Planches grises avec des titres minimalistes au dos et au recto. Il y a un petit frottement au bord de la colonne vertébrale. Le panneau avant est un peu incliné. Contient 2 portraits, 11 planches de Beardsley et 2 cul de lampe. Intérieurement un très bel exemplaire propre. 129 pages. Les assiettes ont des gardes en verre. Le dos est plus foncé que les planches et a peut-être été soigneusement remonté. 26 cm x 20 cm.

Berlin: Erich Reiß , 1920. First Edition. 49 full-page engravings to the recto of each page, and a comment to the verso of each facing page. The text is Tribüne der Kunst und Zeit X. Eine Schriftensammlung. Herausgegeben von Kasimir Edschmid. The illustrations are provided my Masereel. Poor quality post-war paper, with the usual darkening to the pages and to the cover. A little splitting / closed tear to the front cover (approximately the top 2cm). The blank front end paper is detached but present. 111 pages. 165 x 125 mm (6½ x 5 inches).

Edinburgh: Printed for William Blackwood, Prince's Street; and John Murray, Bookseller of the Admiralty and Board of Longit,, 1817. Scarce First Edition. This is an ex-library of the copy from the Literary And Philosophical Society in Newcastle. In brown / green cloth hardback boards. Complete; including frontis folding chart entitled "Exhibiting the Variation of the Compass agreeable to the position of the Ships Head at the time of Observation. Also the track of His Majestys Ships Sybille & Princess Carolina in a Cruize to East Greenland in 1814." Boards are darkened, and have some very small spots of soiling. Fold-out has small tear to very edges. Unfortunately, aside from the expected library stamps at the front and on verso of fold-out, the book has some damage from damp. Several of the pages have obviously stuck together at some point, and been forcibly opened, leading to loss of text. London: Unpublished, 1960. A hardback bound typescript of a report by Lt-Col Shore, on faults and problems with the architecture of Milton Abbey in Dorset. Bound in blue cloth with gilt titles. The typescript itself is unpaginated, but is 11 pages long. Printed to one side in red and black. Also bound in are 8 large (305 mm x 240 mm) black and white silver gelatin photographs of details of the Abbey architecture, including one with the members of the Abbey team showing some Saxon stone work. There are two further loose photographs, one of which is a little tatty to the edges. The report is signed in fountain pen by the author. There is also a compliments letter loosely enclosed. In good clean condition, with a touch of darkening to the edges only. 355 by 255mm (14 by 10 inches).
