No priority/air, except by special arrangement. Richly illustrated with colour plates. A monograph on the Polish-French painter Balthus (Balthazar Klossowski de Rola, 1908-2001), known principally for his unsettling, erotic paintings of young girls. Although his paintings are executed in a realist, even academic manner, there is a surrealist flavour in his work. His older brother was the author Pierre Klossowski. MoMA held a retrospective of his work in 1956.. Paperback. Very Good. 4to.
