About This Item

New York, New York, U.S.A: Pantheon, 2007. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. New/New. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Signed by author on title page. In BAMBI VS. GODZILLA, David Mamet, the award-winning playwright and screenwriter, gives us an exhilaratingly subversive inside look at Hollywood from the perspective of a filmmaker who has always played the game his own way. Who really reads the scripts at the film studios? How is a screenplay like a personals ad? Whose opinion matters when revising a screenplay? Why are there so many producers listed in movie credits? And what the hell do those producers do, anyway? Refreshingly unafraid to offend, Mamet provides hilarious, surprising, and bracingly forthright answers to these and other questions about virtually every aspect of filmmaking, from concept to script to screen. =He covers topics ranging from "How Scripts Got So Bad" to the oxymoron of "Manners in Hollywood." He takes us step-by-step through some of his favorite movie stunts and directorial tricks, and demonstrates that it is craft and crew, not stars and producers, that make great films. He tells us who his favorite actors and what his favorite movies are, who he thinks is the most perfect actor to grace the screen, and who he thinks should never have appeared there. Demigods and sacred cows of the movie business-beware! But for the rest of us, Mamet speaking truth to Hollywood makes for searingly enjoyable reading. New, unread, first edition, first printing, in new, mylar-protected dust jacket. PNot remainder-marked or price-clipped] NF37

I saw the movie ….believe it or not! I was working at a little bar/rest that was located next to the Scottsdale Center for the Arts in Arizona and a couple guys that worked there would come in and tell me about the movie playing there which was Bambi meets Godzilla. I figured they were joking but they got me a ticket to go see it. I about died when I saw it! Don't want to spoil it but let's say it's worth seeing if u ever get a chance. Don't think the book is the same.

About Joe Staats, Bookseller

Modern Literature, Mysteries, and More!
We specialize in collectible, contemporary signed first editions. First edition means the first printing. (Later printings of the first edition are typically not printed on acid-free paper, and should be avoided by collectors.) Signatures are obtained by us in person. Inscribed books sold by us may contain a line, a phrase, or a sketch that the author has chosen to add. Our signed books are not dedicated to anybody in particular (not to your grandmother, your Aunt Gladys, your ex-lover or your former cellmate), except in the rare case of a presentation copy from an author to a noteworthy person. All our books are hardcover, unless the book is an Advance Reading Copy, Uncorrected Proof, or PBO. You can expect that the books we send you will be as described, and in a physical condition worthy of the author’s having signed them. We do not sell remainder-marked books, signed or otherwise
