London: Hodder and Staughton , 1922. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 6" . None stated. A UK first edition of this illustrated children's book about a grey squirrel by Ernest Thompson Seton. The UK first edition of the work. First published in the U.S in 1922 by Scribner. Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignettes and 8 plates. Collated complete. In the publisher's original cloth with an illustrated front board and gilt title to the spine. This children's book was written by Ernest Thompson Seton. The work follows the story of a grey squirrel that was raised by a farm cat but is forced to learn how to survive in the woods after his home catches on fire. The work was later adapted into a children's Japanese anime series in 1979. In the publisher's original cloth. No dust wrapper present. Externally very smart with only light bumping and the odd minor mark to the spine and rear board. Front free end paper excised with offsetting to the rear. Internally title page disbound but present and plate facing page 200 weak. Pages bright with very light spotting throughout and to the fore edge. Very Good
