About This Item
New York: The Bar Sinister, 1918 This Is A Collins Posthumous Printing Of 1918 With An Introduction By Sir Winston Churchill Describing The Loss Of The Author. Given That The Title Story Is About Dogs, Including A Bulldog, I Presume That Had Something To Do With Churchill's Appreciation. It Is Told In The First Person In A Kind Of Cockney By A Bull Terrier, "As If I'd Rather Poke For My Vittels In Ash-Heaps Than Have 'Em Handed Me In A Wash-Basin And Would Sooner Bite And Fight Than Be Polite And Sociable." Contains Nine Tissue Covered Black And White Plates, Unattributed. Very Good Green Boards With Gilt Lettering And Author's Initials Blind Stamped To Front Board. Some Toning And A Few Stains. Soft Crease To First Two Preliminary Pages. No Dust Jacket If Issued.
