Barbara Bodichon was one of the founders of the Women's Movement and launched The Englishwoman's Journal in 1858.She worked solidly for equality for women, writing and publishing an essay "Women and Work" which resulted in the opening of small service businesses run by women. She fought to get schoolgirls the right to sit for the School Certificate and went on th be one of the founders of Girton College in Cambridge.
