New York: Alfred A Knopf, 1956. Nice copy of book that is fairly hard to find. First Edition stated on copyright page. Orange patterned boards are clean and bright as is green topstain. Hine of lean, else fine. Price intact jacket has book dealer price marked in ink next to $2.95. Jacket has scuff that partially removes three letters in title on front panel. Only other flaw in jacket is light soiling to rear panel of jacket as jacket is remarkably well preserved in every other aspect. In mylar. . First American Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good Plus to Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Synopsis
Ross Macdonald's real name was Kenneth Millar. Born near San Francisco in 1915 and raised in Ontario, Millar returned to the U.S. as a young man and published his first novel in 1944. He served as the president of the Mystery Writers of America and was awarded their Grand Master Award as well as the Mystery Writers of Great Britain's Gold Dagger Award. He died in 1983.
