Also signed and dated on the first free endpapder by the author with a short inscription to Louisville, Kentucky poet Madison Cawein. With the bookplate of Louisville poet Mercedes Rosebery. The author (1857-1915) was born in Buffalo, NY, where her father was the chief city engineer. Her poems first appeared in Peterson's and Leslie's magazines.
