Her first novel, Postcards (1992) won the 1993 Pen/Faulkner Award for Fiction. <br /> <br /> Her second novel, The Shipping News (1993), won the Pulitzer Prize and the U.S. National Book Award for Fiction. It was made into a film in 2001.
