About This Item
London: Collins, 1959. The first English language translation by Archibald Colquhoun of Calvino's "Il Barone Rampante". Published by Collins in 1959. A very good book with one small stain to the page edge. No inscriptions. In a very good unclipped wrapper with some chipping to the head and foot of the spine. Some wear to the corners. Some light browning and small stain to the rear panel. Described as a conte philosophique and a metaphor for independence, it tells the adventures of a boy who climbs up a tree to spend the rest of his life inhabiting an arboreal kingdom.

In my opinion, this, Calvino's first novel, is his finest. A remarkable story.
