The Sporting News, St. Louis, Missouri, 1965. Softcover. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. 416 pp. Text white, clean and unmarked. No former owner attribution. The front cover features a b/w photograph of Ken Boyer, St. Louis Cardinal third baseman leaping to spear a line drive. Long recognized as one of the game's all-time third base greats, Boyer was voted the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1964 for his superlative play which led the Cardinals to the pennant and a world series win over the New York Yankees. The text includes a listing of all active field players, pitchers and managers in the major leagues in 1964 with biographical information, printed autograph, and career statistics. Few copies of these books have survived.
