About This Item

London: Cassell, 1926. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. A Novel from the 1920 Broadway Play. Publisher's red boards, with black titles. Foxing to the fore-edge and offsetting to both sets of end-papers otherwise a VG+ copy in a fine D/W priced 7/6 net to the spine (as called for). The book was filmed in 1926 (The Bat) and The Bat Whispers (1930) both directed by Roland West. It was filmed again in 1959 directed by Crane Wilbur and starred Vincent Price, Agnes Moorehead and Darla Hood (in her final screen appearance). The tagline from the movie was: "when it flies someone dies". Uncommon in D/W especially in this lovely condition. Crime mystery adventure, featuring Miss Cordelia van Gorder.
