The work is a comprehensive and authoritative account of the honours and awards carried by the relevant armies. It lists also the regiments involved in the various battles and notes also the honours forfeited by those regiments which participated in the Indian Mutiny. Separate sections details action in the continents of Europe, Asia, Africa, America, and also the West Indies and the Antipodies. The regiments of both the British Army and the Indian Army (though apparently not directly those of the East India Company).
