The paper use within the text is of a slight brown hue and printing is of a dark brown. Illustrated dust wrapper, showing a contemporary illustration " The Frisky Vocalist ", with yellow background and maroon and black writing on the front panel and spine. A little rubbing to the dust wrapper corners and crinkling to the head and to the heel of the spine. Some marks to the laminate of the dust wrapper. The Music Hall was founded on the Song and Supper Rooms of Regency and early Victorian London. In these rooms, young men about town would shout out their favourite songs -- usually bawdy parodies of popular ballads of the time. The mid Victorian morality decried these songs and so the paper records were burnt. There appeared that no record of the songs had survived this burning, until a cache was discovered in the British Museum and a selection ( this book in fact ) of these songs has been printed for the first time. This is the first UK edition. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo.
