Grolier Society 1900. First Edition. Hardback. Very Good/No Jacket. First Edition thus. One of 1000 Edition de Luxe with hand coloured frontispieces, numerous plates with captioned tissue-guards. Occasional light spotting intermittently, generally bright clean and crisp. Contemporary deep purple morocco, decorative gilt fuchsias to upper covers and spines, gilt turn-ins, top edges gilt. Spine uniformly sunned to crimson. Minor rubbing to heads of spines, overall a very good library set. Biographies include Laurence Sterne, The Sheridans, Lady Hamilton and Lord Nelson, Beau Brummel, Fanny Burney, Charles James Fox, Horace Walpole, Nell Gwyn et al.
