London: Macmillan, 1884. First Edition. First printing. Octavo (18.5cm). In plain green cloth, with title in gold on spine; plain endpapers; 2pp of ads for Tennyson's other works at rear; [viii], [1]-213, [3]pp. A sturdy copy, with small tear at head of spine and foxing to endleaves, else Very Good.
Half-title with the 1885 pencil ex-libris of L[ouis] J[udson] Swinburne, an American critic who authored a book on Rossetti and the Pre-Raphaelites. Tennyson began writing for the stage late in his career without much success. This play was not produced in his lifetime: the first production was in 1893 (ODNB). NCBELIII 415.
