London: Ivorypress/Timezone 8 2008, 2008. First Edition. Oblong large 4to. 255x303mm. pp. xii, 164. Red cloth, title and author stamped in white, other details in black on upper cover and spine. This superb book in fine condition contains 147 colour photographs by Ai Weiwei showing the construction of Norman Foster's stunning Beijing Terminal 3. There are reproductions of two sketches by Foster. The text (in both English and Chinese) consists of an introductory essay ("Norman Foster & Ai Weiwei: An overview in detail) by Brendan McGetrick and there are interviews with Foster and Ai Weiwei. The photographs, beautifully reproduced, take up many of the formal themes of Ai Weiwei's art: perspective, structure, the relationship of the human to the built environment, scale and distance. A fine copy of a fascinating book.
