In 1960, Bukowski began an eight year correspondence Sheri Martinelli who at the time published a literary magazine called Anagogic & Paideumic that Bukowski submitted poetry. But Martinelli wasn't just any small press publisher. She was a protoge of Anais Nin, the muse and mistress of Ezra Pound, friends with Charlie Parker, admirered by Marlon Brando, friends with many of the Beat writers among many other notable talents and associations. This collection of letters follows their postal relationship from its early critical exchange to their confrontational end.
