London, Ward, Lock, and Tyler [ca. 1870]., 1870. 8vo. Over 300 woodcut illustrations and vignettes by W. Thomas, R. Dudley. Full contemporary dark green moire patterned cloth, gilt stamped spines (rubbed at corners, slight foxing throughout). Good-very good. 2 volumes (Volume II incomplete). Authors include Rev. J.G. Wood. Spine title: Boy's Own Magazine; at foot of page [2] (Vol. I): "New Series. - No. 1, Vol. I". Volume II ends at page 464; with the last 304 pages of "Volume I" included. Notable for the detailed illustrations, and the literary, historical and scientific content (including a "History of the British Navy" and "The Adventures of Reuben Davidger; Seventeen Years and Four Months a Captive Among the Dyaks of Borneo", among others), plus various games, puzzles, scientific experiments, etc.. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket.
