About This Item

London: Hamish Hamilton, 1957. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's yellow boards, blue title to spine and vignette to the front board. Patterned end-papers. Profusely illustrated throughout in black & white by BB. Publisher's yellow boards, blue title to spine and vignette of a reindeer in blue to the front board. Patterned end-papers. A neat former owner's name to the front free end-paper, a neat gift inscription on the verso of the FFEP, a scattering of foxing to the page block edges overall a VG+ copy. In the RARE D/W priced 8s 6d net to the inside flap (as called for). The VG+ D/W is partially faded to the spine (to a lighter shade of brown) and is foxed in places to the back panel. The Story of Ben & Biddy, two bullfinches found lost and too young to move in the middle of the road by Sheila and Peter, and their subsequent adventures. One of the scarcest BB titles to find in any condition, particularly so in such collectable condition as this example. Photographs/scans available upon request.
