Originally published in 1880, General Lew Wallace's novel has retained its popularity for over a century, giving rise to several filmed versions. This is a Very good copy of "The Player's Edition." A large and heavy octavo (that will no doubt require some extra postage); attractive decorated green cloth binding, with tipped-in photograph of an actor as Ben-Hur; floral motif decorations in orange and light green; the title and dramatic masks in gilt. Clean text; 552 pages, with a notice regarding the 1899 theatrical production in New York on one following page. Many illustrations! This copy is bumped, with rubbing at the margins. . First Thus. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
