The rare first Dutch edition, inspired by Blumenbach's "Geschichte und Beschreibung der Knochen des Menschlichen Kórpers" (Góttingen, 1786). Willem Vrolik ?exerted himself to enlarge and to describe the fine anatomical collection of his father Gerard, which contained, i.a., numerous skulls. It was named "Museum Vrolik" and became famous at home and abroad'. B.M.N.
