About This Item

Dordrecht, Netherlands: Foris, 1988. Hardcover. Very Good. The author's research covers about three-quarters of the island of Borneo under Dutch control, equivalent roughly to the modern provinces of Kalimantan Timur and Kalimantan Selatan. The period chosen for research was one of rapid change, when the population increased from approximately three-quarters of a million at the turn of the century to nearly twice that at the time of the Japanese invasion. The main spur for the change was a concerted push to exploit the natural resources of this heavily forested region. Very Good Hardback. 282 pages with a bibliography and index. Weight: 0.8 kg Post free within Malaysia The original book has been rebound in leather and leatherette with gilt titling on the spine. The cover has darkened in places but has otherwise very little wear. The binding is tight, the text clear and there is minimal tanning of the pages.
