Essays written by the English critic for the Statesman, the Observer, a dozen other periodicals, and as introductions for books. Sections on Modernism, Classics, Novels, Criticism, and individual contemporary poets. Medium 8vo (6-1/2" x 9-1/2"), beige cloth with copper gilt and black lettering on spine and front board (author's name on front is only half black, in apparent production error), green topstain, minimal wear with sharp corners, slight dust soil along top, foxing to rough-cut fore-edge, in unclipped DJ with shelf wear, 1/2" tear to front panel at bottom, crease in back flap. Former price in pencil on ffep, pages bright and unmarked.
