London: Hurst & Blackett. Very Good+ in Very Good- dust jacket. 1946. Presumed First UK Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. FINE black cloth boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. In the original publisher's decorated dust-jacket. The dust-jacket has a few closed tears all of which are now neatly repaired to the reverse of the d/j with clear archive tape, with no loss. The dust-jacket, which os NOT price-clipped, is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks VG/Fine. The page fore-edges have some pale spotting/toning from age but are clean. A former owner had stamped their name on the front free endpaper (John Reynolds) and there are faint traces of another stamp (? ) having been removed from the same page, o/w internally fine with no other markings. No date given, but War Economy paper and the previous book by this famous South African Cricketer/Cricket writer was published in 1946 and his book following this one in 1947 - so likely 1946. 168 pp. Illustrated with 18 photographs in b/w on 8 pages. Foreword by Field-Marshal The Rt. Hon. J. C. Smuts. Published just after World War 2, this book describes the dramatic experiences during the war of many South Africans who responded to WWII with Courage and Valour. Overall an Excellent copy in the scarce dust-jacket. See Images. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
