About This Item
London: Julia MacRae Books, 1994. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. This is a first printing of the first edition, with a complete number line. The paper has darkened slightly, but there are no signs of use or wear. The navy covers are fresh; the gold spine lettering is shiny. The dust jacket is price-intact, with just a touch of wear at tips and corners, but no tears or damage. A very nice copy. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: "Gwen, third of the four Purcell sisters, tends the large Hillcrest garden and pursues her artistic endeavours. The unexpected and unwelcome gift of an orchid collection is the first event to disturb her calm world, but it is a visit to an unknown orchid grower in Germany that forces her beyond her sheltering boundaries. It is 1936, the Nazis are in power, and Gwen finds the courage to start living in the modern world.
