By the illustrator of THE GIRL WHO LOVED WILD HORSES, a Caldecott winner. First printing, with complete number row (10 987654321) on the copyright page. Brown cloth spine/brown boards. From the Dust Jacket: "Some of the most exquisite paintings Caldecott Medalist Paul Goble has yet created add to the power of this transcendent book. It shares a vision of heaven that offers timeless comfort and reassurance to readers of all ages. This is a spiritual journey that begins as an Indian grandmother lies dying in her tipi, surrounded by her loved ones. Her family's sorrow is tempered by the thought that Grandmother is climbing to the world 'beyond the ridge' - a world much like this one, but filled with more beauty and abundance. There she will be greeted by buffalo and butterflies. Paul Goble's portrayal of a lush natural world, his profound understanding of the Plains Indian culture, his selection of Plains Indian prayers for inclusion, and his sensitive melding of story and art add to the richness of the experience offered here.". First Printing of the First Edition. Hardcover. As New condition/As New dust jacket. Unpaged (but 32pp).

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
