About This Item

Gale Research Co., Detroit, new edition, 1967 reprinting with additional material the 1864 edition published by H. G. Bohn.. 8 vols, cloth, spines decorated. 8vo, 23 cm,. over 3,300 pp. Approximately 50,000 entries. Still one of the most useful references for old books published in the British isles. An attractive reprint edition. "Arranged alphabetically by author, with many title and catchword entries. Lists about 50,000 works, giving for each: author, title, place, date, size, with occasional notes as to rarity, value, editions, reprints, etc., and often records of prices at various 19th-century sales. While the prices shown are now only of historical interest, and there are some inaccuracies, the work remains useful for other information. The title and catchword entries are sometimes helpful in verifying citations not easily located in other catalogs." - Balay An ex-library set with small numbers on the spines, library labels and dockets on the front endpapers and stamps on the title-pages (rectos and versos), otherwise a Good clean set.
