Full gilt ruled calf; 5 raised bands and gilt particulars to spine; gilt rule to board edges. Previously the personal copy of Edward Bellamy with his bookplate to front pastedowns. Beautifully illustrated throughout with hors texte plates as well as vignettes; occasional tissue guards, although some image transfer where tissue guards not present. Vol. 1: xxv, [v], 462 pp, lxxix, [1]; Vol. 2: 555 pp.; Vol. 3: 622 pp., lxii. 6 3/4 x 10 inches.
