Paris: P. Rouquette, 1872.. xxxii,335pp. Quarto. Handsome three quarter grey morocco and marbled boards, t.e.g., others untrimmed, original printed wrapper bound in. An excellent copy. Edition deluxe of the second edition, revised and considerably enlarged. One of 108 copies printed on large paper (this being one of 100 on vergé) equipped with original etchings by Bracqueond and Nanteuil bound in as frontispieces. Also bound in are three autograph letters, signed by Asselineau, Bracquemond and Ernest Prarond. This work constitutes the first major bibliography of Hugo, de Vigny, Merimée, Dumas, Ranin, Gautier, Borel, et al. Asselineau was one of the leading proponents of the French Romantic movement and was one of the earliest champions and defenders of Baudelaire. An early, preliminary version of this work appeared in 1866 under the title MÃLANGES. The separately published APPENDICE ... (1874) is bound in at the end, complete with its printed wrapper, and is paginated in sequence with the first work. TALVART & PLACE (Asselineau) 16b & c.
