Cloth, 8vo, 25 cm,. viii, 560 pp. Approximately 1000 entries An important bibliography, which aims to include every reference of fundamental importance, and which because of its emphasis on the historical development of each subject is particularly valuable for students of the history of medicine. The book is divided into sections covering some 30 communicable diseases including typhoid fever, cholera, bacillary dysentery, plague, brucella infection, pneumococcal pneumonia, scarlet fever, erysipelas, rheumatic fever, meningococcal infection, gonorrhea and gonococcal infection, tuberculosis, leprosy, diptheria, tetanus, typhus, syphilis, malaria, amebic dysentery, poliomyelitis, the common cold, measles, smallpox, vaccinia, rabies, yellow fever, herpes zoster, mumps and whooping cough.. The arrangement of the material in each section is chronological, with a general author index. Each entry has a detailed annotation providing historical background and context for the writing. The annotations are very full and valuable. In all about 1000 titles are described, making this one of the most comprehensive bibliographies on internal medicine.
