About This Item
First printing. Book has minor creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. Price-clipped DJ has light rubbing to the edges and is in an irremovable protective sleeve. Signed by Hanes on the title page. A former cowboy in Oklahoma Territory, a rogue with a Robin Hood quirk, called "King of the Oklahoma Outlaws" by Marshal Bill Tilghman - Bill Doolin served an apprenticeship in what was to be his chosen profession as a member of the Dalton gang. After the fiasco at Coffeyville in 1892, when all the Daltons but one were killed while trying to rob two banks simultaneously, Doolin gathered together the remnants of previous bandit packs and made them his own. These wild characters went on to rob trains, loot banks and otherwise thumb their noses at harrassed US marshals for the next four years until Doolin was killed by a heavy shotgun blast from ambush. Uncommon signed.
